Internet marketing basically boils down to two things:

1) Generating traffic
2) Converting visitors into buyers

Getting traffic is easy, but getting targeted traffic should be the goal. Not just anybody. You can get any old visitor from traffic exchange and autosurfs. You'll soon realize, however, that those visitors don't become buyers, so your efforts to get traffic through those means is wasted.

Pay-per-click is a great way to get very targeted visitors, but then the problem become converting those visitors into buyers. A lot of newcomers to IM hop onto adwords and love the traffic they get but the website doesn't convert well and they lose lots of money.

So how should you go about it?

Test your website's responsiveness with the free methods that work before you give your traffic a shot in the arm with PPC. What are free targeted traffic methods that work?

Blogging, social bookmarking, ezine advertising (there is such thing as free ezine ads, if you don't believe me just search on it), classified ads (in good ones like USfreeads and Craigslist), Squidoo, article marketing, and link exchanges are all great.

All of these methods require the visitor to see an ad BEFORE they come to your site, thereby qualifying themselves as interested. As long as your ad accurately portrays the message of your site, you can consider these visitors targeted.

Test different headlines and use what converts. Once you know what works, then go to PPC to get lots of targeted visitors fast, confident that your site converts well.

In order to guarantee longer term visits from each buyer, be sure to build a list of opt-in subscribers to build a community or receive a newsletter. You don't want to ever spam since that can get your website banned, but you do want to stay in contact as frequently as possible. Get a GetResponse autoresponder or an Aweber account to do this. Provide articles at regular intervals like every other day that give good information to your subscribers. You want them to like you.

Monetize you list with joint venture promotions, selling advertising, and promoting niche-related affiliate products and services to your readers.

To improve the conversion ratio of your site, it is advisable to include privacy policy, disclaimers, terms of service, contant info, and a blog to make it more personable. The features also tend to assist your position on Google Adwords and other search engines. You want to display any awards or certifications you have as well, as this will lead to better believability by your visitors that you're for real.

Begin the path, follow it without straying and avoid the tempation of speed until you are ready.

So now you're all ready and set to make boat-loads of affiliate marketing cash but wait a minute...How am I supposed to know what merchant to affiliate with? Yep! His product is great - maybe you've even used it and you know for sure! But how sure are you that his sales page will convert the traffic you send to him!?

Before we go on, let me define affiliate marketing:
"Definition: Affiliate Marketing is a system of revenue sharing between one site (the affiliate merchant) which features an ad or content designed to drive traffic to another site (the advertiser). The affiliate will receive a fee based on the amount of traffic generated."

Okay, we are all enlightenged now about what affiliate marketing is all about so let's go on...
Emmm...where were we? Oh yes! Sales page "convertibility"! What is a merchant sales page? This is a the webpage that your visitors/traffic will be landing on when you send them to your affiliate program through your affiliate link!

Therefore, we have established its importance! Needless to say, a great product with a "seedy" sales page would bring in no sales! And that's exactly what we want! (No - I meant the sales...we want the sales...Right?)

The whole object of your merchant's sales page is to get the visitor scurrying for his wallet, not just salivating, but almost acquiring a nervous breakdown from his/her haste to purchase the product on offer! - Your current merchant's sales page don't do that?...Don't worry, after going through this article you'd know what to do to change that.

What was your question again?...Oh yes: How am I supposed to know what merchant to affiliate with? Well my advice goes thus: Firstly, you must know where to look for merchants. I recommend clickbank. Why?...Well, they have over 10,000 electronic products (i.e. products that you can easily download after payment without waiting for shipping) to choose from. Also, all you need is one single affiliate ID - called a hoplink in clickbank - and you can simply plug it into any affiliate program in their network and you're good to go! So go to clickbank!

Secondly, look for a product that you think would solve a problem e.g. Pregnancy without pounds, stop your dog messing up your house, stop any hacker that comes near your PC etc., etc. I'm sure you get the gist!

Thirdly, and most importantly, visit the sales page of the merchant to determine if it possesses these extremely important and indispensable features!: (The following are the secrets that distinguish top affiliate marketers from the 95% "pretenders" so pay attention!)

Your perception of the page as a visitor won't be too far from that of those you send to that page:

1. The page must grab your interest and attention as soon as you land!
* The headline must appeal to your emotional cravings, appeal your inner desires and offer solutions to the things that have so far been an embarrassment to you!

2. The page must hold that interest and attention throughout the page!
* Meaning that the headline ain't enough...there must be meat on the body.

3. The page must be exciting to you!
* It should get you excited enough to desire purchasing the product instantly if you could! Remember the illustration above about "nervously clutching for your wallet"? - yeah, something like that.

4. The page must be "easy" on your eyes!
* It must have sex appeal - you almost want to eat it up or crawl into your monitor screen. Here you won't find all those funny colors that are not related :(

5. The page must have the ability to convince you!
* Proof can't be undermined! Who has used it? what do they have to say about the product? Were can you go to verify their "testimonies"? Can you try the product before purchasing it? Etc., etc.

6. The page must offer you a money back guarantee! - very important.
* "Okay, I'm convinced this product isn't for me - where's my money?"

7. The page must offer you some kind of bonus!
* "So you want my money ha? - Okay, what's in it for me?" This can be in form of a newsletter, an eCourse, a free eBook or "extras" if you purchase the product.

Finally, let me add that a great sales page doesn't have to possess all of the above to be great...but the more of them it has, the more effective your marketing efforts will be...and of course the more $$$ you'll make! Cachang!

Voila! Now you know all it takes to choose a great merchant's sales page! Alright. Off you go to earning those affiliate commissions! Good luck and Godspeed! Am out.

For eBay starters, I am going to write about identifying the proper market for your products after you have decided the products to sell. Actually, it is very simple task. First, register with eBay for displaying and selling your product.

Follow the simple instructions for registering at eBay. Are you wondering about the next step? It is even simpler. You would sell only the products that you are quite knowledgeable of. Come up with a list of ideas, importance, interesting subjects and topics that you can think about your product.

It is not tough at all. I'm here to come up with ideas you can write about. For instance, you may be selling stationery items like pens & pencils, geometry boxes, canvas, paints, watercolors, oil paints and so on. You can come up with the ideas, interests or hobbies relevant to the product: writing letters, gifting them to your kids or your friend's kids on their birthdays, drawing, painting, oil-painting, teaching, workshops and so on.

Attracting the visitors of the auction site would be your next step. You can attract the eBay users, who use these products extensively give your products a proper market. However, it needs bit of homework from your side.

Homework does not mean doing calculations. You need to know your CUSTOMER'S PULSE. For this, you need not touch your customer physically. Place yourself in the customer's shoes to know them better.

One good place to know what is hot on eBay currently is to visit eBay pulse page. This is a page created by eBay showing the most watched items. These items reflect what are hot in the market. You can get some good information by checking out the sellers' store and other items on sale. The other way that you can do your market research is to look at the completed items history. Ebay keeps completed listing data for a period of time and you can utilize this data to your advantage. By analyzing these, you will know what the average price for a particular item and how many bids they attracted in the auction.

You need to understand the type of customer and their background like interests and dislikes, if they are single or married, income & age range, and other important and relevant information. Create a complete record on the prospective customers in your market.

Are you thinking why you need to do this? You would understand this when you start writing sales pitch articles. Your sales pitch writing would attract the appropriate kind of eBay users. This is one of the most efficient tactics to increase your sales.

Anyone can build an ecommerce site, but if you don't promote, chances are that no one will ever see it! Promotion is one of the key elements in a successful ecommerce business and one that many webmasters don't know how to do well. That's why you are reading this, to learn more about promotion techniques!

The most obvious method of promoting your ecommerce site is through ads. There are many different types of ads and they have varying degrees of success. For example, there are websites where you can put your link for free, but they will not tend to bring you much traffic. Not that you should rule them out, but don't waste too much time posting free ads!

Google Adwords is a good way to advertise on a budget since they let you set the price you pay per click as well as how much to spend per day, letting you keep your spending in check. Also, you might consider ezine ads, which can be had for as little as $2 in some cases for a classified ad.

Don't overlook offline promotion, as well. If you are selling something that would appeal to the general public, why not take out a classified in the local paper? Or in several papers around the country for that matter? This is a good way to catch the attention of people who would not normally look for your business online.

Sometimes, it is worth resorting to lesser known methods of promotion in order to get your ecommerce site noticed. You can find plenty of ideas by chatting with other webmasters on ecommerce forums, but here are a few ideas to get you started.

Host a contest. By holding a contest of any kind, drawing, writing, photo, etc., you can post your listing on hundreds of free contest sites that thousands of people will see every day. The number of potential new clients that will be attracted to your site is astounding with just a simple contest. Just make sure that you set the end date a couple of months ahead.

You might also consider giving away something, whether an e-report or a sample product. This can be listed on free giveaway sites that will bring plenty of treasure seekers to your website. While some will only want the freebie, others will stay to look around at your products.

Another way to promote your ecommerce site is to set up an affiliate program through a service like Clickbank. This allows you to get your product in front of a wide variety of people who will then work hard to promote your site themselves, if you give them a good enough incentive.

Posting valuable information on forums related to your website theme is another way to get free promotion. You can include your ecommerce site URL in your profile and signature. When people see that you offer good advice, they will check out your site for more information and see your products.

There are many more ways to promote your ecommerce website, but these will get you off to a good start. The more you talk about your site, whether in the real world or in chat rooms and on blog comments, the more visitors you will have. It's really that simple.

E-stores are the newest craze to hit the internet. Suddenly everyone is starting their own and some major companies, like Amazon and Ebay, are making it even easier to get started in ecommerce by offering ready-made e-stores. This means that you need to make sure you set your store up correctly and in a way that it will stand out from the crowd. Here exactly is how to do that:

First, you need an excellent product. Don't choose something that everyone else is already selling! You are looking for a niche market, something specific and popular, without the market being overrun. A good example would be pet accessories. Coats and jewelry for cats and dogs is a big thing these days, and while some competition will always exist, it is a fairly untapped market.

Once you have your product, you need a very good store. The best way to stand out from the competition is to not use a template. Instead of going with a standard setup like Ebay offers, you will be much better off designing your own e-store. Customizing colors and design just takes a little know-how that you can easily learn online or hire someone to do.

Keeping your store looking neat and clean, without excess graphics, and with a memorable logo, is a good way to keep visitors on your site. Fast loading pages will help, as well. Make all your information easily available and keep everything within two clicks of your home page, with a standard navigation bar available on all pages for easy access to everything. People like easy to navigate websites and will usually stay longer on such sites.

It doesn't have to be that complicated to set up a method of payment. There are plenty of payment services that offer merchant accounts and all you have to do is add the HTML buttons to your website so your customers can buy your products through an online shopping cart.

You will also want to invest in a good domain name. While the ideal domain name would be your e-store name that might not always be possible to find. Look for something that uses your main keywords if your title isn't available. Keep it to a maximum of 3 words long to make it an easy to remember URL and try for a .com ending as most people tend to remember that more than any other ending.

Now you have your store, your product and your domain name, all that remains is to promote. That is a whole other article!

Garage sales and flea markets are so 20th century. Today, if you have stuff to peddle, sell it on eBay. You'll be joining thousands of other like-minded people who seek to make money selling their wares on this popular web site. Since everyone is savy to the online selling gravy train, you'll need to make your items stand out in order to make more money on eBay.

Size up the Competition

Before listing your items for auction, check out eBay's Completed Items listings. Here, you'll see what products are up for sale, their prices, and how they are presented. You might also get a better idea on how to title your product to produce a higher price.

Don't overload the auction site with items. You will make more money on eBay auctions if you sell a few items at the same time rather than overload the auction site.

Describe Your Wares

You have limited space for product information so make your words count. In the auction title, avoid words such as "Look," or "Wow." No one types in these words to do a search; use words that potential buyers will likely use do search for your product.

Be generous with information in the auction description. Include any product details that buyers will find helpful. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words (or maybe a thousand dollars!). A good, color picture is essential to catch the eye of a buyer.

Shipping News

Don't tack on too high shipping/handling costs for your auctions. While your aim is to make more money on eBay, sky high shipping fees may turn off buyers. There's always another seller who will give them a better deal.

Promote Your Wares

To help make more money on eBay, it helps to advertise your auctions on a personal web page. Or, run an online store with links to your eBay auctions. Send emails to subscribers notifying them of upcoming auctions.

eBay Auction Support

eBay provides sellers with several tools to help them navigate the auction process. Automated listing tools allows sellers to post additional listings without going through the "Sell Your Item" process every time. With eBay's Turbo Lister, you can sell your wares without having to visit the web site - and it's free.

If you are selling a very expensive item, it may be beneficial to purchase an auction upgrade from eBay. These upgrades generate more potential buyers. However, the cost of auction upgrades will eat up the profit on lower priced items.

The Right Stuff

Having unique, high quality items is another way to make more money on eBay. Estate sales are great places to find specialty items such as antiques, vintage clothing, and jewelry. You may also find a few nuggets from liquidators who purchase discontinued or last season's merchandise from manufacturers and retailers.

Ebay Powerseller is a public recognized symbol. It shows the seller is trustworthy and experienced in selling on ebay. Most importantly, he is making a good living from eBay auction business.

I have compiled a list of ebay powerseller secrets so that you can learn from their experiences.

1. Offer easy payment options for buyers:
It is your responsibility to increase the ways of accepting payments online. It will drive up the sales if you offer more payment options.

2. Use Paypal as your first choice of payment:
Paypal is by far the most popular online payment service, especially on ebay. It offers security for both buyers and sellers to protect from online fraud. You should sign up for a free Paypal account now.

3. Use a dedicated email account for your online auction:
You will look more professional if you have an appropriate email account that deals with all your online orders and enquiries.

4. Always use signature in your email:
This is an effective branding strategy and it is a good opportunity to sell more items to your existing customers.

5. Compile a list of FAQ:
It saves you time without answering the same questions from buyers.

6. Conduct your market research according to the trends on eBay:
You need to constantly look out for the hottest items to sell on eBay. Check out eBay calendar for particular themes of the month. Pay special notice on what other people are selling.

7. Write decent ads:
Your ads need to look neat and simple. Don't confuse your buyers. Be honest when you are describing your items. You will increase your chance of getting positive feedbacks in that way. In addition, check your spelling and grammars before you put up your ads.

8. Use automation:
If you have a seller pro subscription, you can automate a lot of things, such as emails, feedbacks, and newsletters. It saves you a great deal of time so you can concentrate on other things.

9. Clear policy on shipping and handling:
Be very clear on instructions after sales, such as shipping, handling, postage, etc. Your customers will appreciate that greatly. Also, it will be better if you can provide a tracking code for your customers to track the shipment. Don't overcharge your shipping fees.

10. Use quality pictures:
You should use multiple pictures whenever possible. It is proven to increase your sales and attract more bids. Please take quality pictures with your digital camera in an appropriate background.

11. Relist your unsold items:
You should relist your unsold items since eBay don't charge you again if the item is sold later. Don't create a new listing for the same item.

12. Use different features of listing appropriately:
EBay offers different types of listing features, such as bold, highlight, border, feature plus, etc. They all have different price and some of them are not cheap. You should use them appropriately after weighing against the potential profits in the sale.

13. Never use reserve option:
So far I haven't seen any successful auction using reserve option. No one wants to bid on items with reserved price. If you don't want to lose your profits, simply raise your starting bid.

14. Use ten days auction and gallery option frequently:
These are two of mine most favorite options for listing. They are proven to work. Use them often.

There you have it.
Hope the above tips are helpful to you.

Unlike what many believe, there is a great deal of work that is involved with getting an internet home business up and running. Many newcomers get into internet marketing with the intentions of immediately making money overnight. Unfortunately, things do not come as easy as they sound.

The first step to getting your internet home business going is developing a start-up plan. By writing out a plan, you will be more organized and prepared to handle any kind of adversity that you may face down the road. Your plan should include what kinds of content you will write, how you will market the company and to whom, and how you will work to receive return customers.

Once you have written out a plan, it's time to give your internet home business an identity. Selecting a domain name is more crucial than people think because this is what people will be identifying you by. The shorter the domain name, the easier it will be for people to remember. Also try to include your product or something related to the company in the domain name.

Finding a web host is important because this is the company that will keep your website up and running. When searching for your web host, you want to look into how reliable the company is, what kinds of support they offer and how much it will cost you per month. If you have questions, don't be afraid to contact them to find out more information.

Finally, your website is up and running and you are ready to begin making money, right? Well, not quite yet but you're almost there. Developing fresh ideas and clear and concise content will get you on the right track. Every website needs to have quality content to prove that you know what you're talking about.

Along with the content, your website layout can determine how much money you make with internet marketing. Where you place your ads, how many ads you have and the background and text color can all be determinants of your success. Take time to organize your website the way you as a customer would like it.

Marketing is the next step because there is no business without customers. You can market through paid advertisements, posting in forums, writing articles and getting your name out there as much as possible. Once you do get customers, getting return customers is where you will make your money. You can get return customers by offering free bonuses, e-books, newsletter subscriptions and anything else that is enticing.

While there is a lot to take care of when getting your internet home business up and running, it will go a lot faster than you think. That is why having a plan is so crucial to help get the business running on the right track.

It can be difficult getting your ecommerce business off the ground. Once you have the basics down, the products selected, website designed and promotion in place, what can you do to improve things? There are plenty of ecommerce tips and tricks to get your business moving faster than the competition. So, without further ado, let's take a look at some of them.

- Consider starting a blog. Whether on your ecommerce site or separately, you can start a blog to bring attention to your website. By their very nature, blogs bring in lots of search engines fast and repeat visitors. As long as you are posting useful information several times a week, people will visit your blog. You can list it in blog directories and link back to your ecommerce site at every chance you get!

- Creating fresh content is a good way to bump yourself up in the search engines as well. By adding articles weekly or more often to your ecommerce site, you stand a much better chance of the major search engines like Google checking you out on a regular basis.

- Keep your website simple and easy to navigate. That means eliminating unnecessary graphics and Flash animations, so you have a nice clean site. Also, contact and order information should be very obvious on every single page. Don't create subdirectories of subdirectories, everything on your site should be within two clicks of the home page.

- Stay focused by choosing your product niche and sticking with it. For example, if you sell used medical equipment, don't expand into used books. If you want to start another area, set up a second website so you don't confuse visitors.

- Double check your links. Simply by visiting your own ecommerce website and clicking on the links to make sure they work, you can save a lot of complaints and lost sales. No one likes a broken link and many people will simply leave your site instead of reporting it.
- Take advantage of your meta tags. They can actually get you a higher ranking on the search engines, so use them!

- Set up a merchant account so you can accept credit cards online. This will boost your sales dramatically. Also, being able to accept major payment services such as e-Gold and PayPal will help you make more sales since people trust these sites.

- Don't ramble in your product descriptions. People want to know the features and benefits in a few seconds and won't usually read anything longer than 2-4 lines, so keep it short! Web surfers have short attention spans.

- Update your information frequently. If you change your prices, make sure that the change is reflected on every page. This avoids a messy looking site with contradictive information in different areas.

By following the tips given in this article, you will find yourself boosting the visibility and popularity of your website. This is vital in maintaining your ecommerce site ahead of the competition!

As online businesses soar to record high year after year, online business has attracted a growing number of online entrepreneurs that are hoping to make big bucks out of virtual products. With the entry of private resale rights which has gained enormous popularity among Internet marketers, online business has become better than ever.

Eager to know what private resale rights is and how to take advantage from it? Here are things you should know:

1.Private resale rights is a type of online business that generate income by selling or reselling online products. The selling would require online marketer to recreate the product as if recycling the product without the need of changing the whole thing.
2.Unlike making your own products to sell on the Internet, private resale rights eliminate the need to create one product. The private resale rights works by modifying the product into a better and saleable merchandise.
3.Since private resale right products uses existing products online, the marketer would only need to change the existing texts of description of the product. This is called the text information of the product. Every product has text information to describe the particular products, its content and benefits. Recreating while supplementing additional information about the product would lead you to a better and more attractive niche. Although adding information about the product can surely spark up the sale, be careful of misleading the reading.
4.Another field to modify for the sure success of your own private resale right product is the graphical presentation. Image which is often come as JPG, GIP, and BMP could be recreated to attract more costumers. In this way, you can have the unique niche different from all the rest.
5.With proper web page to post your own private resale right product, you can generate good flow of traffic which would in turn convert to potential costumers. Be reminded though that most Internet users spent an average of 20 seconds on one site and probably have visited other sites before yours. Uniqueness is the key. You surely don't want to attract negative comments especially when you are only in the first stage.
6.Another good thing about private resale right product is that you could claim any product as your own. Following the above guidelines would lead you to have great market sale without worrying about the copyright. You can even give your product a brand new name different from the existing or original product.
7.There is no better way to earn money than doing it right at your very home. With a computer, Internet connection, and skill in the marketing field, anyone could make the best out of this business. While at home while earing money; it could not get better than this.

Private resale right principle is no longer new. You have surely had heard of some writers who hire ghostwriters to make articles for them. These writers would then claim the articles written by ghostwriters and use these as a merchandise for the money to grow. Private resale rights use the same simple principle. Create a new product out of the existing product on the net and then resell it at a different price and different brand name. With proper use of your skill in marketing, you can have the greatest advantage of private resale right business.

In any business, you do not always get what you wanted. You cannot convert your business into an overnight success. Do cannot simply create business out of nothing and end up big time because everything has to be planned and carefully studied. And any business you engage would bring you to different challenges along the way because no business is perfect.

And like any other businesses, entering into the private resale right field could not give you the success you have always dreamed of.

While most of the private resale rights entrepreneurs win big time in this field you have to consider that there is a portion of the pie that losses in this business. With the popularity of private resale rights in the information age, you should know where are the areas you would fail. Focusing your attention on the following this could save your time, your effort and your money. Here are the private resale rights pitfalls:

1.Intense competition is always one of the problems of newcomers who want to gain name in any businesses they would like to venture in. The private resale right business is not different. With worldwide market and of course worldwide competition, your private resale rights business could not move as you wish.
2.Any road to success is not always the easiest road to take. For private resale rights business, it could take a lot of marketing skill and time of careful planning to arrive at your dream success. Since private resale rights is existing right before your awareness that it exists, you should test the water first and plan your dive before you take the dip.
3.Although every business could be different from one another, the private resale rights intense competition could also mean "competition." One brand with different versions of presentations, there is a little chance to come up with a unique product of your own. A particular private resale right product might have a clone which in turn become a fierce competition.
4.Private resale right business is time consuming. Although most businesses requires time, extra effort should be given with modifications and customizations to come up with unique product.
5.Last but not the least. Any product you produce for private resale rights is more or less owned by other people. And because you don't own the rights of any of the products, it is subject could also be owned by other people which is also subject for improvement and modifications. You don't have the hold of any of your product that is why you cannot have the full market of any of your product.

Enumerating all these thing does not mean you don't have the space in private resale right business. For few people who succeed in this business, you surely can get to the same pedestal of those who make things good for their private resale right business.

What is good about these pitfalls is that if you know you are properly equipped to launch your own business, you are certainly get all the credits. And the elimination process would not eat you alive if you are prepared to face these challenges that could certainly occur along the way. With good and proper management of your private resale rights products, you will know where you stand up in case you fall down.

Many people would like to find a way to supplement their income by making money online, but are not sure how to go about it. Here is my work at home review of one way to make some extra cash from home.

The method I want to discuss today is taking paid surveys. There are numerous companies online that will pay for your opinion. Why do they do that? Because companies pay them in order to have access to you and your opinion. It is less costly to companies to pay for consumer opinions prior to launching a new product than to put it on the market only to find that consumers do not like it or it does not meet their needs.

How do you tell them your opinion? You do so by taking surveys. These surveys may be about anything from shampoo to pet food to being asked to rate the service received last time you were at your local hospital emergency room .

When you first sign up with a survey site, you will fill out a profile survey where you will be asked many question so that the company will know what types of surveys to send you. For example, if you have a dog, they will know to send you surveys from any of the companies they work with that want consumer opinions about dog related products such as dog food or flee control.

How many surveys you get will depend on how many companies the survey site has working with them that need opinions about topics that you are qualified to give an opinion on. If you do not have children, they will not send you a survey about disposable diapers for instance. Usually the longer the survey and the more time it takes to complete it the more it pays. You will be notified by email when a new survey is available for you to complete.

If one survey site does not send enough surveys for you to make the income you need, you can sign up for several different sites. Various sites have various dollar amounts that you must reach in order to get paid and they also vary in their method of payment. Some may pay with paypal while other pay with checks. Still others may pay with gift certificates to well known stores. Some surveys sites will only allow consumers from the USA while other may accept those outside the USA. Be sure that you read each sites Terms of Service and FAQs so that you understand how the site operates.

While you will not become a millionaire doing online surveys, you definitely can make some extra cash from home. It is a great way to offer your opinion and influence product development for different companies while improving your bank balance.

Before going swimming, sometimes you walk to the edge of the pool and just stick one toe in to test the waters before you take the plunge, right? Maybe you go to the shallow end, step in and wade toward the deep end just to be sure you know where the drop-off is, dont you? You dont want any nasty little surprises or risk drowning. Thats a very good idea. A little caution is a good thing when it comes to swimming pools and other unfamiliar situations like buying and selling on ebay.

You may have been looking for a way to make a little extra income or even looking for an opportunity to start your own online business. Whatever your goal, buying and selling on ebay may be the answer you are looking for. To get started buying and selling on ebay, you dont have to jump feet first into the deep end of the pool. You can stick one toe in or wade slowly toward the deep end from the shallowest part of the ebay pool.

To test the ebay waters:

1.Go to the ebay website and just look around. Poke around in the corners. See what kinds of items are being bought and sold.

2.Get an ebay buyers account. Go through the whole procedure so that you will understand what your (eventual) customers will be doing or have already done.

3.Bid on an item that is being auctioned so that you well understand the auction procedure and know exactly what transpires when a customer wins a bid, as well as, what happens when a customer loses a bid.

4.Get a sellers account.

5.Dig something out of your attic and list it for sale on ebay.

6.Ship the item to the winning bidder.

Once you have successfully sold one item on ebay, you will know how to swim in the ebay pool.

Something New from eBay:
Ebay got it so right the first time that over the years there have been very few additions to or changes made in the original. That says a lot about the planning that went into the site in the beginning. When eBay bought Paypal in 2002 it was a big step and one of the very few changes that have ever been made. It was an excellent business decision that has proven to be very beneficial to buyers and sellers on eBay not to mention the bottom line of the corporation itself.

Then in January of 2006 eBay made another change. This one has proven to be beneficial to buyers and sellers that make use of the eBay website as well. This big change is called the eBay Express. eBay Express puts emphasis on new merchandise and creates a little distance between eBay and online flea markets. However, the site does say that there is new, used and refurbished items that are for sale.

All of the items that are listed under eBay Express will have fixed prices. The auction has been an eBay standard from its inception but eBay Express does not have an auction alternative selection. There is a shopping cart available so that customers can make multiple purchases from the same seller. This has been a feature that has been lacking.

The requirements for sellers to use the eBay Express option are fairly stringent. It isnt open to just anybody. A seller is required to have a feedback score of at least 98% and it must be public rather than private feedback. Additionally there is a requirement that a seller must have a Paypal Premier or Business account that is set to ship to unconfirmed addresses. Sellers are also required to state shipping costs.

You have heard it before: The Money Is In The List and then you finally realize that you need a good opt-in list in order to make your email marketing effective. After reading countless articles and seeking expert advice and having read many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists you finally decide to have one of your own. Then having the belief that you know everything there is to know about opt-in lists and having followed the advice that you received to the T; you still are not able to make money online.

In fact you may be losing money, are you? You maybe hiring writers to help you out and there are other expenses which you incur in fact, even if you have a big list maybe only a very small percentage actually buys from you which means your profit is very small (if you make any at all). You'll realize that after a few months when you see your statistics and sales figures.

So what could have gone wrong, why have others succeeded where you have failed? The most common mistake is that you dived straight right in and didn't pay enough attention to the expert internet marketing training available to assist you in making money online. You may have chosen a topic which you thought could be quite popular and would earn you money. This is of course not always the case, just because you used your email marketing know how to contact people from the list doesn't mean that they are going to buy instantly.

Here I can offer some advice, for those who have started an opt-in list and have failed, you can rejuvenate your failed venture. For those who are starting, here are three quick and easy ways to build a profitable opt-in list.

1) Get your customers to trust you and your products first. Just launching your opt-in list would not make you an expert and a believable seller. Put many articles first before you start an opt-in list. Write about the topic you know and have started and used for your site. Try to put forums first to gain knowledge about your customers about their wants and needs and target those wants and needs.

Join forums from other sites as well. Provide expert advices and recommendations. When you feel that people trust you already you will be able to start your own opt-in list. You can build a base as well with other forum users. You can ask them to join your list. Friends are always good customers. Put up a link to your site so that they may be able to see what you're business is all about.

The certain truth is, the money will only come in when the consumers and subscribers believe and trust in you. They want a product or service that could be a good exchange for their money. People are not going to buy something out of your recommendation if they don't know you.

2) Find a product or service that people want and need. Although it may not be your forte, if you provide a service and product that you have researched and learned about well you can carry it on forward. Invest your time, effort and money that you could sell as well as the buyers or subscribers of your opt-in list can use.

While it is true that it is best to sell something that you have interest in, there are not many people who have the same interest as you if you decide to sell something that is not entirely popular or profitable. Do your research well and you would see the profits come in. Also provide your subscribers with promotional material that they could actually use and spread around, this is a critical step in email marketing and making money online.

3) Make friends with other opt-in list users. This is basically beneficial especially if it is someone who has already launched a successful opt-in list. These are people that have the experience in this venture and experience is still the best teacher. While there are many articles available for you in the internet to use, there is nothing like getting a first hand account from someone you trust.

Experienced opt-in list users will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do because they have gone through it. While different situations occur for different people, the general concept can still be very helpful. There are many things to avoid and these people will be able to tell you which ones.

Building a profitable opt-in list doesn't just happen overnight. There are many preparations and effort to do. Opt-in lists are built from scratch and as your list grows, you should also maintain the quality of your list. Keep it organized and manageable. Get or hire help if need be and just make sure that your subscribers are happy and satisfied and they will be willing to buy from you.

While it is true that everybody with any online presence requires a web host and therefore demand has got be high, it is also true that many have tried to launch a successful hosting business and have ended up failing miserably. So the question is what usually goes wrong?

Actually, to successfully launch a web hosting business, you must have an effective strategy, which is what this article will help you formulate.

If You Don't Have Clients You Certainly Don't Have A Hosting Business.

There are many ways to launch a hosting business, but the easiest is to join an affiliate program where you can concentrate on getting clients and leave all the other numerous technical details to be taken care of by others. This is what I would recommend for somebody starting out in the web hosting business.

The reason is simple. You will get to learn the hardest part of the business, which is landing clients. Once you have mastered this aspect of the business, you can confidently go ahead and launch your fully fledged hosting set up with confidence knowing that you have the ability to land clients pronto, anytime you wish.

Start Your Hosting Business With A Blog.

Blogs are amazing and can be used very effectively in generating traffic and business for anything you can care to think of including your affiliate web hosting site. For starters blogs tend to rank better than sites in search engine results. The simple reason is that search engines are always looking for plenty of quality content and blogs tend to have lots of this.

To generate the content for your blog, you will need to focus on common problems people face from their web hosts and suggest good workable solutions. Then place your link to your hosting affiliate sign up page at appropriate places. It is important that you carefully research the keywords that you are going to use for your blog content and anchor text for links because this will impact on your SEO success.

Then, to further boost your blog traffic, rewrite your content and also post them at popular high traffic article directories. Each article should have links pointing back to your blog. The effect of this, apart from giving you traffic will be to enhance your ranking with leading search engines for the keywords that you will choose to use.

The Most Important Marketing For Any Web Hosting Business.

Right from the beginning it is of utmost importance that you create a system for harvesting email addresses from your regular visitors to your blog and affiliate site. The way to do this is to offer a regular email newsletter or ezine that will be of great interest to your audience. Naturally your weekly ezine should go out with links to the latest articles at your blog.

Not only will this enable you to retain a steady flow of clients, but the hosting business is such that most people will not sign up immediately but will need to be constantly reminded of your business until that inevitable time when they will need to sign up with a new web host. There is no better way of staying in touch with your prospects than through an interesting ezine emailed out regularly.

Using the simple strategy suggested in this article, you should be able to build a huge profitable hosting business within no time, even as you continue to learn other methods to market and promote such a business successfully.

Choosing the right domain name is an important foundation for any ecommerce business. Not only should it be memorable and relevant to your target audience, but there are specific considerations relating to search engine optimization, as well as implications associated with the domain name extension itself.

More so than a simple, offline street address, domain names can convey a lot of information to your prospects. Fortunately, this is something you have a lot of control over. Whereas you cannot rename a street, you can define your web address, within the limits of what is available. Because prospects cannot see your site in directory and search listings, the domain name should communicate the nature of your site, and if possible, something of your business.

When brainstorming a domain name, start with your main keyword. Whilst it's not essential to include this in the final name, doing so serves two purposes. First, it tells your visitors what they can expect. It identifies your site as being relevant to their inquiry, and it also helps search engine bots determine the relevance of your site. Whilst no-one truly knows what goes into a search engine's ranking algorithm, most of the sites in the top 30 tend to include their main keyword in the domain name for a given query.

Keywords are not enough, however. Simply stringing keywords together creates a very weak domain name. It tends to be cumbersome, and poorly remembered. Try to thing of a way to convey some value or description of your site, in as few words as possible. If you can create a short phrase, perhaps three words, including your keyword, then it will sound both memorable and natural. For example, my sister called her site "Sane Parenting". My business website is called "Pick The Business".

This exercise requires a little lateral thinking. It can be a good idea to use a thesaurus to find synonyms as many combinations are already taken. Unfortunately, this is the case with a lot of two word combinations, although with a little patience you can still find some good ones.

The best domain extension to choose is generally .com, though there are exceptions to this rule. The reason you should opt for .com in most cases is because this is the extension that most people default to when they try and remember web addresses. If you choose a different extension, perhaps .biz or .org, you will potentially lose some traffic to the .com extension as people mistakenly type in that url. Conversely, if you own the .com extension, this can be to your benefit.

Country specific domain names are another case entirely, particularly if you have a business that is not global. They essentially act as a filter, and can deliver more targeted traffic. If your business is global, however, this filtering could have a detrimental effect, as people may assume you don't service their country. In that case, choosing a .com extension would be better.

Avoid using dashes and numbers in your domain name. They are hard to remember, and look cumbersome. There are no search engine advantages to using dashes, if anything, the opposite. In any case, you will probably lose traffic as people are likely to forget to type them in. Numbers can be easily confused, as they can be spelled or written numerically. And they don't look professional.

If you can create a domain name that communicates the intent of your business, or a sense of your business' values, then you assist your visitors in remembering it, as well as creating a favorable first impression. And if you're looking at selling your domain name (or site) further down the track, short domain names that are catchy always fetch higher prices.

While the rest of the world have developed many barriers and protections to keep their e-mail accounts spam-free, there are also those that subscribe to mails that promotes their products, services and their site. This is mainly because these subscribes wants to know more about what these sites are offering and can be beneficial for them. They expect to get be kept posted on what they are interested in and what are new in the market or field they have chosen.

Businesses would be so lucky to have these kinds of customers; the basic element needed to get these types of people is trust. When your customers trust you they will reward you with their loyalty. Many internet users have gone to great lengths in protecting their email accounts from spam mail. Some free-mail internet providers and internet service providers offer spam protection while there are also some internet based companies that screen your mails for you.

With an opt-in mail list, the mails you send containing your promotional materials such as newsletters, catalogs and marketing media will go through. Your intended recipient will be able to read and view what you have sent making it a successful transfer of information. To be able to be allowed to do so, you will need permission from your recipient, to get this permission; you need to be able to get their trust. With the great lack of disregard for privacy in the internet, getting the trust of an internet user you don't personally know is a big achievement.

To build a good opt-in list you need people to trust you, for a faster and quicker build up, you need to get your opt-in subscribers to trust you quickly. The faster you build your opt-in list the faster word about your site and company gets to be spread. The bigger the scope of your opt-in list the more traffic you get spelling more profits. Its easy math if you thin about it. Getting the numbers is not that simple though, or maybe it is?

Getting the trust of your clientele shouldn't be hard especially if you do have a legitimate business. Getting your customers trust should be based upon your expertise. People rely on other people who know what they are talking about. Garner all the knowledge and information about your business. Well, frankly if you decide to go into a business most probably you have an interest in it. Like how many basketball payers become coaches you don't really venture into something you don't have any interest in.

Show your clients that you know what you are talking about. Provide them with helpful hints and guidelines that pertain to what you are selling. Talk about how to install a roof if your into hardware products or provide articles on insurance settlements if you're a settlement lawyer. You don't have to be a big corporation to make use of an opt-in list. If your customers see you as someone who knows what he is doing and saying, they will trust you quickly.

Be true to your customers, if you want to hype up your products and services, provide guarantees. The more satisfied customers you get, the bigger probability there is that they will recommend you. Generally, people will trust someone they know, when that someone recommends you then you're a shoo-in. They will go to your site and check it for themselves and be given a chance to experience what the other shave experienced from you, so make sure to be consistent in the service you provide.

Another tip in getting a customer to trust you quickly is to provide them an escape hatch. Show them that you are not there to trap them. Keep a clean list that would enable them to unsubscribe anytime they want. Elaborate your web form by providing information on how to unsubscribe from the list. Guarantee them that they can let go of the service when ever they want to. Many are wary that they may be stuck for life and would have to abandon their email accounts when they get pestered with spam.

Remember that when you get the trust of your clients don't lose that trust. Because if you do anything with their email addresses like sell them or give them out, you will lose many members of your list as ell as potential members. The true quickest way to gain the trust of your subscribers is when you are recommended by someone they trust.

Providing a newsletter for your internet marketing opt-in list subscribers provides many benefits in terms of driving traffic into your site as well as boosting the online money making sales and profits of your site and company. This is a marketing ploy that will not hugely dent your marketing budget and will not also require many man-hours in developing this project.

With a newsletter, you can inform the public about your company and products as well as services. You can keep them posted and updated about what's going-on with your company as well as many of your promotions and offerings. With these, you keep on reminding your subscribers that you are still here and is willing to offer them good deals and services.

Newsletters also allow you to impress your email marketing subscribers. It can show your expertise and knowledge about the topic at hand and the many benefits you can offer them. When you impress people, they will become potential customers and another great thing is that they can recommend you to their friends, colleagues and family. All of them could very well be customers in the future.

If you do not have a newsletter or publishing one for your site, then you may have to consider about researching and be well informed on how to publish one. It is not as easy as it seems but if and when you get the right idea and process, it will be smooth sailing from there on. Try to take the time to learn what you need to learn and get that newsletter ready and good to attract subscribers to your newsletter as well as traffic to your site.

In the next few paragraphs you will be provided with some things to reflect on when you decide to start your own newsletter for your site. Here are five things to consider when publishing a newsletter.

1) Make sure that the content of your newsletter pertains to and closely associated with your business or the theme of your site. Do not dwell too far on what could be regarded as your field of expertise. You have started a site and your theme for your site will always be something you are knowledgeable about. For example; if you have a site that sells auto car parts, your newsletter must contain articles or content like photos that pertain to cars, auto parts and such. You may also include content about your company and your staff.

Remember that visitors of a certain site are there because they are interested in what the site has to offer. If they sign up for an opt-in list or for a newsletter this means that they want to be updated for that certain theme or subject. Be sure that when you publish your newsletter you are providing for the need of the subscriber as well as their interests.

2) Ensure that you have well written, information riddled and content rich articles. You articles will be the body of your newsletter and that they should be able to excite your readers as well as provide information. Articles should be well written and checked for errors such as spelling and grammatical errors for it to look professional and believable. The trust of your client to you and newsletter is at stake here.

3) Fact-check your articles. Make sure that you provide true facts and figures so that your reputation as an expert and knowledgeable in that field is not questioned. If you lose the trust of your subscribers these may persuade them to unsubscribe to your newsletter. You will lose many potential sales this way.

4) Provide fresh and new articles that can provide new information to your subscribers. If you publish stale and old news in your newsletter, there is a tendency that people or your subscribers already have read and known about them. This will lose their interest in your newsletter and they wont get to read what is most important, your ads. They may not open or read any of your succeeding newsletters losing your intention in writing and publishing newsletters, to get them to visit your site and make a purchase.

5) Never use copyrighted materials such as photos and articles. This is outright plagiarism, you may get into a lot of trouble for this. You can lose your business and get sued over copyright infringement. If you do not have the time to write your own articles, there are many willing and able professional article writers that can do it for you for a reasonable fee. All your investment in writing and publishing articles will be well worth it when you see your list build up and your traffic increasing.

We go into business to purposely earn profits and make the business grow and prosper. To achieve these, we must keep our customers in the center of our attention.

To keep a business prospering, a basic principle that we must keep in mind is to level with our customers. We must be passionate about serving our customers by letting them know what they can expect from our product, and how it will serve their needs. We must allow them to explore the capabilities of the product and be very honest about what the product can do or deliver. We must make sure that we provide them information about our product by comparing it with others. We must present a complete and honest picture vis-à-vis other existing products in the market. This way, customers will have a better basis in making a decision on whether to buy the product or not.

When we promote our product and it delivers in accordance with our claim, we gain the trust of our customers. We build our customer base with this confidence. A good product usually speaks for itself, and quality has a price. It is because of this reason that customers are willing to pay more for quality products or the branded ones, for these have been known and tested for quality.

If our product falls short of customers' expectation, we will have difficulty in selling it even at a lower price. This is especially true if our competitor has a better product. Customers will compare these products feature by feature.

One major mistake that a businessperson can make is to expect customers to adjust to the limitations of the product. Remember, we are in the business of providing the needs of customers. We are in the business of filling in that need. We must adjust to customer requirements and to what they are looking for on a certain product. If we disregard this, customers will look elsewhere.

Whenever we launch a new product, the initial order is not the best judge of how strong the product will do in the market. Initially, demand for the product may be strong mostly because of the curiosity factor and people's inclination to try new products.

Repeat orders are better basis of customers' acceptance of the product. A lackluster start does not necessarily mean that the product is not good. It may require a bit of adjustment in terms of price, product awareness, market reach, delivery process, etc. It may also require a better marketing strategy and advertising boost. Do not throw in the towel yet. We should give our product more time to prove its worth especially when we strongly believe that what we are offering is a good one.

No advertising budget? A number of entrepreneurs face this dilemma. While we may have a very strong product, one that serves a critical and universal need of target customers, we may lack the resources to inform our customers of the existence of the product.

We can tap one of the effective marketing techniques, called word of mouth advertising. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to advertise a product. Satisfied customers become the medium of advertisement. Happy customers will keep on talking about our product and this can improve sales steadily. In the same manner, bad news about inferior products travels fast. Customers will always remember a bad product and will keep on talking about it.

We should also brush up on our listening skills. We should welcome suggestions coming from people who have tried our product. Although suggestions usually sound critical, it is meant to present a better perspective and open the manufacturer's perception of the product's performance in the market. It is up to us to objectively evaluate which criticisms are constructive, and which are just plain nuisance.

Offering money back guarantees show our level of confidence on the product's quality. If we truly believe in our product, we will not hesitate in offering a money back guarantee. Hesitant customers may be swayed to buy if offered a guarantee. They will be willing to try a new product given the assurance that they can return the product and get a refund, if not satisfied. This kind of guarantee does not always work in favor of the businessperson. Some customers abuse it. However, the strategy may carry a high percentage of better returns than unpleasant outcomes. Looking at the bright side, it will be a good idea to have service units for trial purposes to minimize unnecessary losses.

Don't forget the freebies! They invite sales. Freebies should complement and never compete with the main product. Offer related freebies to enhance it further.

Keep this in mind: when we fill a need of a large segment of the market, offer quality product, and sell it at a reasonable price. We have a very good chance of making our product saleable to our target market!
